Today we are focusing on Northern Soul, which is a genre that we first started seeing in the mid 1960s. Northern Soul really began to take off in the late 60s, with Great Britain playing an enormous role in the explosion of this Dancefloor pounding style. I handpicked a few different cuts, that I feel give a good overall feel of Northern Soul – a few dancefloor killers as well as some lighter and sweeter tunes. My personal favorites are Detroit Soul’s “All Of My Life”(Music Town Records), J. J. Barnes’ “Please Let Me In” (Ric-Tic Records) and Rita & The Tiaras’ “Gone With The Wind Is My Love” (Dore Records). Keep The Faith!
